In this lesson, students will recognise Australia’s cultural diversity by identifying global celebrations and commemorations that are also observed here in Australia. They will pose a range of questions about a chosen celebration or commemoration
and plan and conduct an historical inquiry investigating the origin and significance of their chosen celebration and commemoration. Students will develop a historical narrative and use a range of communication forms and digital technologies to explain and communicate their information. They will also evaluate and reflect on their peer’s presentations and gather further information and knowledge on cultural celebrations and commemorations.
The key concepts addressed in this lesson are sources, significance and empathy.
