The students are introduced to the concept of culture and what differences and similarities can be found between cultural groups around the world. Students are guided to do their own research about some unique and interesting examples of cultural rituals and customs. Investigating a two hundred year old world cultural map provides the opportunity to think about how different cultures have evolved. Geographical tools of maps, graphs and statistics and visual representations are used. The geographical concepts addressed are place, space, environment, interconnection and scale.
