Key Concepts, Skills and Understandings

In this lesson, the students are introduced to two organisations of young Australians who provide aid to India and other Asian countries where people are in need. The students select one of these groups to do more detailed research and present their findings. Students are introduced to the concept of government aid and NGOs and look into the work done by both types of organisations. Geographical tools including maps, spatial technologies and visual representations are explored through a variety of images which the students categorise and find information from. The geographical concepts addressed include place, space, environment, interconnection, scale and change.
