Students use the geographical tool – Disaster Mapper – on the Australian Disaster Resilience Knowledge Hub to investigate recent bushfires in Australia. They identify the location and extent of each disaster and the impact of the disaster on the local community.
Students use the “Jigsaw” approach to group work to research one bushfire in Australia. Each expert group uses the websites provided to research their inquiry question. Students present their group’s information in a graphic organiser of their choice – ladder, staircase, chain of events or flow chart.
