Key Concepts, Skills and Understandings

After continuing the comic strip overview, this lesson focusses on the prison hulks used to house criminals in the era. Students examine primary source images from the era, with the blue square activity providing students with the opportunity to analyse and compare two contrasting sources. The black diamond activity is a mini independent research project. The lesson continues to develop students’ understanding of cause and effect and the use of historical sources as evidence.
