Overview

In this unit, students learn about the importance of Country/Place to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples who belong to a local area. The lessons are structured so that initial activities introduce students to the big idea behind the lesson. These are followed by opportunities for students to consider these ideas within their own local contexts and drawing upon local Aboriginal resources. In doing so they develop an understanding of the Aboriginal heritage of their local area and explore the historical concepts of perspectives, empathy, sources and continuity and change.
Please note: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander viewers are warned that the following resources may contain images and voices of deceased persons.
